Located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, guests are in a prime location to all the beauty and activities that the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. With endless views of the rolling hills and lush greenery of picturesque  Bishopdale, renowned for true countryside pursuits such as shooting, fishing, cycling and walking, there are also a whole range of other options for activities and outings from The Street Head Inn.

Here is a list of some of our favourites:

Enjoy food tasting - Wensleydale Creamery, Hawes

No visit to the Yorkshire Dales can end without a visit to the infamous Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes, the home of the real Wensleydale Cheese. See the cheese being made and taste the many varieties of cheese in the tasting centre. If you still have room, there is both a café and dining room for lunch and a quality visitor centre for a wide choice of quality souvenirs of your visit to the area.

Enjoy a night at the theatre - Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond

Built in 1788, as Britain’s most complete Georgian playhouse,we invite you to tour the theatre, explore the history and find out what’s on during your visit.

Enjoy a nature walk - Aysgarth Falls

Only a mile from The Street Head Inn, visit the National Park Centre at Aysgarth Falls and follow the woodland paths to visit the three falls ? Upper, Middle and Lower Falls. In the National Park Centre there are many suggestions for many types of walks across Wensleydale and the nearby dales, where you can be as energetic or as relaxing as you wish.

Enjoy some historic architecture - Castle Bolton

We are spoilt for choice in the area for Abbeys and Castles. A favourite is just a few miles across Wensleydale near Redmire to Castle Bolton, a medieval castle. Don?t forget there is also Jervaulx Abbey near East Witton, the National Trust?s Fountains Abbey near Ripon and Richmond Castle in Richmond.

Enjoy a ride on a steam train - Wensleydale Railway

Take a journey on a carefully restored steam train through the scenic Lower Wensleydale countryside. The Wensleydale Railway departs from Leeming Bar meandering through Lower Wensleydale to Leyburn and Redmire.

Enjoy some retail therapy - Grassington, Harrogate, Skipton, Leyburn & Hawes

A beautiful drive through Bishopdale and over the tops down through Wharfedale brings you to the quaint village of Grassington where many small shops of quality merchandise tempt visitors as they soak up the olde-world ambience, especially before Christmas at the superb Dickensian Festival the first three Saturdays in December.

Fifteen minutes further down Wharfedale brings you to the market town of Skipton, with the market on Tuesdays and Saturdays all year round along the High Street. A wide variety of shops and stalls for everyone.

An hour from The Street Head lies the Harrogate, a handsome Georgian town of beautiful architecture, theatre, key Yorkshire events and offering plenty of quality retail therapy. From the traditional shops you would expect from any town to luxury boutiques, art galleries, specialist food stores, antiques and interiors shops, there is sure to be something for everyone. When you are ready for a break, you cannot miss visiting the infamous Betty's Tea Rooms either in the centre of the town or on the outskirts adjoining the Royal Horticultural Gardens ? Harlow Carr. A day out for all.

A few miles to the west of The Street Head Inn is the Upper Dales market town of Hawes, famous for the Wensleydale Creamery. A few miles to the east lies the Lower Wensleydale market town of Leyburn, famous for Tennants Auction House and the Dales Food & Drink Festival.
